What You Could Be Doing

Depending on your role, competence, training and the individual’s agreed care plan, your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing person-centred emotional and practical support
  • Supporting personal care while maintaining dignity and privacy
  • Assisting with meals, nutrition and hydration
  • Supporting mobility and day-to-day activities
  • Providing companionship and promoting independence
  • Assisting with shopping and light household duties
  • Supporting medication in accordance with the care plan, your training and company procedures
  • Observing and reporting changes in an individual’s wellbeing
  • Maintaining accurate care records
  • Following safeguarding, infection prevention, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection requirements

No Previous Care Experience?

Previous experience may be helpful, but it is not necessarily required for entry-level Care Assistant roles.

Successful applicants will receive appropriate induction, training, supervision and ongoing support before undertaking duties for which competency is required.

Depending on the role and eligibility, there may also be opportunities to undertake relevant vocational qualifications, apprenticeships and continuing professional development (CPD).
